Welcome to Liz Gade’s UX Portfolio
I’m Liz - A UX designer with 3+ years designing accessible and innovative solutions for B2B SaaS and consumer apps. You can learn more about me here - but I recommend taking a look at some of my highlighted work below :).
About Me
Thanks for checking out my portfolio! I’ve worked in the tech industry since 2017, and as a designer since 2020. My professional design roles have centered around B2B SaaS products and back-end management tools in telecom and employment sourcing; when I have the time, I like to round out my knowledge by working pro bono on a wide range of consumer apps (language learning, eco-conscious gamification..right now I’m working on a lucid dreaming app for wearables!)
I prioritize research, innovation, accessibility, and continuity. I am passionate about creating clean interfaces and impactful brands. Given my background in the tech industry, I also understand the importance of soft skills - I always strive to practice effective collaboration, communication, and kindness.
I hope my case studies will give you a good picture of my UX skills - design qualifications are only one part of the equation, however. There also needs to be working chemistry and shared values between a team for success. Here are my values:
-
I'm known to ask a lot of questions! When it comes to user-centricity, I'm more interested in getting to the core issue rather than applying band-aids (though sometimes you need to do both as part of the larger product strategy).
Above all else, I'm curious about people. I'm often confused for an introvert, but I'd actually describe myself as a quiet extrovert. Being around people, learning about them, and using my expertise to help them energizes me more than anything else. -
I know when to hold my ground when it comes to advocating for the user and when to roll with the punches. I'm naturally excited about trying new things - whether that means learning new tools, changing mock-ups to adjust for new insights and priorities, or testing out new processes!
I think it's my adventurous streak that keeps me excited about UX. The field envelopes and interacts with so many different disciplines, that there are always new challenges to take on. Likewise, as a UX designer, you have the opportunity to collaborate with just about any team within an organization - I personally love working with developers and am currently reading Product Management for UX People so I can continue growing my understanding of product -
Let me tell you the story of my first UX generalist job. As a fresh-out-of-boot camp junior designer, I was transferred to my product's UX team where I lived happily ever after.
Just kidding! After seven months of slowly but steadily improving my skills and building relationships with the six other designers, every single one of them (including my manager) quit the company - in a span of four months, I found myself eventually managing the workloads that were previously done by six others and working with the heads of other departments on things that seemed way above my experience level as a junior designer. On top of everything else, I was engaged in late night meetings with Australian teams and waking up before 5am to check in with Indian teams.
Long story short, you will never have to worry about my work ethic or my ability to handle adversity.
